What I Believe
The Divine is in all people, all things, all life.
Nature is alive, intelligent, animated – infused with spirit.
There are many forms of consciousness recognized by indigenous cultures around the world – to some extent, all indigenous people recognize the Earth and elemental beings (water, mountain, fire, air) as forms of living intelligence that have their own purview, personality, and sacred power.
Animism is one of the oldest forms of ‘religion’ or spirituality practiced by ancient peoples. As a practicing animist who is initiated in a 20,000 year old West African lineage rooted in animism and working with the power and intelligence of the elemental world to enable profound healing states, I firmly believe that the divine exists in all things.
The human tendency to put ourselves on the top of the evolutionary ladder is quite arrogant, in my opinion. We exist within incredibly diverse, rich, and deeply animated environments and ecosystems that have adapted to survive and thrive in many conditions over billions of years. It is obvious to me that medicine is not only something we ingest, but exists as a vast living intelligence mirroring back to us the laws of life itself.
Every experience I’ve ever had of God or the divine has ultimately taken me back to life, to nature, to Earth, and to my place in the web of life.
It is the greatest honor and privilege of my life to play a small role in helping others remember and reawaken to this profound ancient knowing.
